Specialist Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a Secondary school just outside of Newport who require a specialised Teaching assistant on a full time basis to work within their special needs base. The role would require the teaching assistant to support children with learning difficulties and special needs. Start date is immediately or after October half term and will run for the academic year. Excellent pay rates of 10+ per day dependant on your experience in the role!

The school is a large genuine Secondary School with 10+ pupils in Key Stages 3&4 who require extra support because of special educational needs. The students require extra support because of social, emotional or behavioural difficulties.

The school provides part time and full time placements to pupils experiencing behavioural and SEMH difficulties within their mainstream schools and aims to return pupils to mainstream placements wherever possible. Class sizes are small to allow time to focus on individual education plans and promote individual positive behaviour.

The ideal teaching assistant would have;

• previous experience teaching young people with social, emotional and mental health needs
• strong behaviour management skills
• have experience personally or voluntary with children

The successful teaching assistant will have a passion for promoting development in young people and must be able to act as a positive role model to the young people within this setting. You will need to be proactive, enthusiastic and have a determination to succeed. The school are looking to invest in the right teaching assistant and training will be provided.
