Job description

Full-Time Teaching Assistant – Specialist Resource Base (SRB)

Location: Newport (NP19)
Make a real impact where it matters most.

We are looking for a caring, resilient and committed Teaching Assistant to join a brand-new Specialist Resource Base (SRB) in Newport. This is a fantastic chance to help shape a new provision from the very beginning and support pupils with a range of additional learning and behavioural needs.

About the Role

  • Location: Newport (NP19)

  • Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday

  • Pay: £89.38 per day

  • Setting: Specialist Resource Base (SRB)

  • Needs Supported: ASD, ADHD, SEMH and wider learning needs

  • Support: 1:1 and small group work

  • Focus: Helping pupils regulate behaviour, stay engaged and access learning

  • Teamwork: Work alongside teachers, SENCO and therapists

  • Start Date:

    • December: Induction and training

    • January: Full-time start

  • Commitment: Until at least Easter, likely through to July

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need prior SRB experience — we’re looking for someone with the right attitude and genuine passion for supporting children.

You should be:

  • Patient, calm and resilient

  • Passionate about SEN and behaviour support

  • Confident managing challenging behaviour

  • Able to build positive, trusting relationships

  • A strong communicator and team player

Experience in SEN, SRB or behaviour support is an advantage, but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
