Specialist Support Assistant - EYFS Experience required
Are you currently between jobs or may be you are looking for a new challenge in 2019?
Do you have experience working alongside children with Special Educational Needs?
Have you worked previously in an Early Years setting?
This could be your lucky day… as Teaching Personnel have an exclusive vacancy to fill at a school in Darwen. The role will commence from the first week after the February half term and continue for the rest of the academic year. This is a temporary supply contract through Teaching Personnel and will run five days a week with the working hours ranging from 845-1530. This will include 30 minutes welfare cover and 30 minutes unpaid lunch. The school is located in an affluent area of Darwen which serves a small community where children arrive working in line and ahead of expected age related levels. The school is a full one-form entry intake and the number of children tends to be around 28 per class on average. The Reception class is no different with 29 children attending full time, with only a couple of children still requiring full toileting support. The reason for this role is to cover a maternity, expected to last at least 6 months. The school have enough funding to cover the permanent member of staff for a total of 32 hours per week at Level 3. With this in mind, you must be available to take up a 32 hour a week role and be qualified at Level 3 or above. If you hold a Degree or equivalent qualification then please do not hesitate to send over your CV as well.
The children who attend the school are well behaved and enjoy attending school where they learn and have fun! The EYFS department is led by a class teacher who is well experienced and will be happy to facilitate your transition into the new role. The class teacher is also the Assistant Head teacher and Assessment co-ordinator for the whole school. This is a massive bonus to working in the class as the assessment techniques are very strong and are used to develop learning further.
The Head teacher is highly commended in the local area for the work she has done to move the school from Requires Improvement to Good in the 18 months she has been in post. The Head teacher is keen to meet the applying candidates as part of the process and will be on the panel when it comes to the interview stage. As a mother herself she is very maternal and nurturing and this is evident in the way she works with the children in school, it also helps that she is highly appreciative of the hard work that her staff put into the working day.
Within the role, you will be expected to follow the class teacher's plans and work with small groups and individual children in the Reception class. On occasion you will be expected to work alongside children with special educational needs such as Autism, ADHD and SEMH. For two sessions a week you will also be expected to plan and deliver small activities centred around the children and their phonics development. The school use Letters and Sounds and Jolly Phonics in the lower school and any experience would be preferable.
The role will be paid at £9 per hour; however this is negotiable with the school at the time of accepting the contract. You will be paid on a weekly basis and timesheeted to the school through the agency. In order to be considered for this role you will need to be registered and fully vetted with Teaching Personnel. In order to become full vetted, you must hold a DBS with the update service and have two education based references from your most recent employers.
