Functional Skills Tutor – Derby (DE21)

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Functional Skills Tutor to deliver high-quality, personalised tuition to learners in the Derby (DE21) area. This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced tutor or qualified teacher who is passionate about supporting learners to achieve their Functional Skills qualifications and build confidence in English and Maths.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging 1:1 Functional Skills tuition in English and/or Maths.
• Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs and abilities.
• Support learners in developing confidence and achieving their educational goals.
• Monitor progress and provide regular feedback.
• Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Requirements

• Experience teaching or tutoring Functional Skills English and/or Maths.
• Strong subject knowledge and the ability to adapt teaching to different learning styles.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK.
• Ability to travel to Derby (DE21) for in-person tuition.

Desirable

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised teaching or tutoring qualification.
• Experience supporting learners with SEN or additional learning needs.
