Special Needs Teaching Assistant- Manchester

Teaching Personnel have recently been approached by a popular secondary school in Manchester, to recruit for an experienced Special Needs Teaching Assistant. This full-time position (required to start ASAP) represents a fantastic opportunity for a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to secure a progressive role within a large special needs department:

Overview-

  • Full time position with the possibility of a fixed term contract after the initial supply period (one term).
  • Pay of up to ÂŁ300 a week.
  • Previous experience of supporting pupils with emotional/behavioural difficulties and special educational needs is preferred.
  • School situated close to Manchester city with excellent public transports links.

The role-

Due to an increase in the number of pupils with special educational needs on roll this academic year, the Special Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) wishes to source a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to compliment their existing pastoral team. This role is to support identified pupils with special educational needs in classes and within the inclusion unit. They are specifically seeking someone with experience of working with special needs especially Asperger's, Autism and Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

The incoming Special Needs Teaching Assistant will have the opportunity to work within an experienced team and with a SENCO who is well respected within the school. You will be fully supported within the role and given opportunities to develop and progress including training courses and access to qualifications.

Our partner school is an average sized secondary school with just under 1000 pupils on roll. The pupil cohort is made up of a mixture of different backgrounds. At present, the numbers of pupils considered to be disadvantaged are slightly higher than the national average.

It is located on the outskirts of Manchester city centre making it only a short drive away from the areas of Ashton-under-Lyne, Gorton and Harpurhey. There are also direct public transport links to the school.
