Special needs Teaching Assistant

SEN Teaching Assistants required in Sturminster Newton

This School is an Outstanding all age Special School for pupils with a range of learning difficulties including moderate (MLD), severe (SLD) and profound and multiple (PMLD). A lot of the students also have Autism (ASC).

The primary purpose of the Teaching Assistant is to complement the professional work of qualified teachers by taking responsibility for learning activities under an agreed system of supervision. They will have a significant role to play in the delivery and monitoring of learning activities. They will typically spend significant periods of time working within the classroom or on a 1:1 basis. This is primarily a classroom-based role.

Teaching Assistants will have high expectations of all pupils and respect for their social, cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds. Finally, all applicants should be demonstrating within their application, how they would wish to contribute to, and support, the School in its future development as an Outstanding Special School.

Essential for this post:

• An educational standard equating to GCSE grade A-C in English, Mathematics and Science
• Experience supporting individuals with SEN
