Special Needs Sports Coach
As an SEN Sports Cach, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of secondary pupils with autism and complex learning difficulties. You will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to deliver interactive sports sessions tailored to the unique needs and abilities of each student. With small class sizes, you will have the chance to provide individualised attention and support, helping students develop essential social skills and confidence through teamwork and sportsmanship.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver interactive sports sessions for small class sizes of secondary pupils with autism and complex learning difficulties.
- Adapt coaching techniques and strategies to accommodate individual learning styles and sensory preferences.
- Collaborate with teaching staff and other professionals to integrate sports and physical activity into the broader curriculum and individual education plans.
- Monitor and assess students' progress, providing feedback to support their development and achievement.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment where all students feel valued, supported, and encouraged to participate.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students during sports sessions, adhering to relevant policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Relevant qualifications and/or experience in sports coaching, physical education, or a related field.
- Experience working with individuals with autism and complex learning difficulties, preferably in an educational or therapeutic setting.
- Understanding of the unique challenges and barriers faced by students with special educational needs and a commitment to inclusive practice.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students effectively.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with individuals who may display challenging behaviors or require additional support.
- Valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance or willingness to undergo checks.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
