Special needs assistant

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed person to join our established Education agency.  The post is fixed-term and the role will include supporting the learning in a class, working with individuals and groups of children in English, Mathematics and other aspects of the curriculum, as well as preparing resources and assisting teachers in the day to day management of the classroom.  
 
You will also be required to work with a child with special educational needs and help implement education plans and provide assistance with programmes for this pupil in and out of class.  Part of the hours may also be supporting this pupil at lunchtime. The candidate should be calm and caring and able to make a dedicated contribution to sensitively supporting children’s needs. Experience of working with or caring for SEN children, in particular with Autism/and or ADHD, would be an advantage. 

The successful candidate will:   

• Have a good standard of English and mathematics and be able to demonstrate this at interview.  
• Have some experience working in KS2
• Preferably have NVQ minimum level 2
• Have high expectations of children's progress and attainment and understand the need to promote independence 
• Be able to work as part of a team with a positive, ‘can do’ attitude 
• Have excellent communication skills, relating well to children, colleagues and parents 
• Have a calm, positive and kind approach, and a sense of humour
