Are you a recent graduate with experience working with young people with additional needs?

Teaching Personnel are looking for a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to work across year groups at their partner school in Bradford. As an SEN Teaching Assistant you will be required to support students with additional needs on a 1:1 basis, with tasks such as reading, writing, getting round school and meal times.

Pupils are aged 11-16 and depend upon additional support with needs including: Reading and Writing, Autism, ADHD, ADD and Physical or Mental disabilities. The school curriculum provides learning opportunities that are appropriately structured to aid the academic and social development of students. You will be expected to support students in reaching their full potential while encouraging independence, confidence and resilience.

Teaching Personnel are seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant with the following:

  • Commitment and Motivation to support students with additional needs
  • Previous experience working with young people with Special Educational Needs
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Additional training (or the willingness to complete additional training) in areas such as Team Teach, Sign Language, Makaton, Moving and Handling, Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to assist pupils with personal care needs

You will be joining a school who strives to achieve the best outcomes for all their students while promoting inclusion, confidence and positive peer to peer interaction. Staff endeavours to deliver a motivating and engaging learning environment, allowing students to feel empowered and challenged in achieving their full potential. You will be working alongside specialist teaching staff and specialists who provide medical care, physiotherapy and speech and language therapy.
