Teaching Assistant Job in Blackwood – Special Needs Support | Secondary School

Job Title: Teaching Assistant – Special Resource Base
Location: Blackwood, Wales
Sector: Secondary Education
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Pay: Starting from £89.75 per day
Start Date: 1st September 2025


About the Role

Are you passionate about supporting pupils with additional learning needs? Teaching Personnel is recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a newly developed secondary school in Blackwood. This role is within the school’s Special Resource Base, working closely with pupils with complex needs.

You’ll provide vital 1:1 and small group support to help pupils thrive emotionally and academically. If you are resilient, patient, and committed to creating a positive learning environment, this is the perfect role for you.

The school’s mission: “Happy and healthy pupils, prepared by old fashioned standards and challenged through innovative teaching and learning experiences to create confident, independent learners.”


Key Responsibilities

  • Follow safeguarding policies and procedures at all times

  • Provide social and emotional support to pupils with special educational needs (SEN)

  • Support pupils on a one-to-one and small group basis

  • Adapt flexibly to changing classroom situations

  • Build trusting relationships with pupils, teachers, and staff


Requirements

  • Right to work in the UK

  • Enhanced Child-Only DBS Certificate

  • Registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)

  • Two professional references covering the past 24 months

  • Experience working with pupils with special educational needs is desirable but not essential — personal experience or willingness to learn is welcomed

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
