Sociology Teacher

Job Type: Full Time, Temporary Contract to May 2024 (may extend to July)

Pay: MPS (paid weekly and daily rate equivalent)

Location: Bedfordshire

Start: ASAP

The Role: Teaching Personnel are recruiting a Sociology Teacher for a high performing secondary school with an excellent reputation in the Bedford and surrounding areas, who are committed to providing exceptional education to its students. This Academy is part of a successful Trust with a wealth of CPD and support available to all of their staff. 

The School: They seek a talented and motivated full-time Sociology Teacher to join their vibrant faculty. As a member of the team, you'll have the chance to make a significant impact on the lives of students, nurturing their curiosity and helping them unlock their full potential in the fascinating world of Social Sciences.

The School is situated in a quiet village close to Bedford and are part of a large and successful Multi Academy Trust with an excellent network of schools operating successfully across the region with Oftsed Good and Outstanding results comprising of Primary and Secondary fedar schools. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Professional Sociology Teacher or Instructor representing part of the Social Sciences Department
  • Plan, mark and deliver Sociology to GCSE and A Level
  • Develop and deliver engaging and innovative Sociology lessons that cater to a diverse range of learning styles and abilities.
  • Instil a love for Sociology by fostering a positive and encouraging learning environment in the classroom.
  • Inspire and motivate students to achieve academic excellence, supporting their progress and development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a cohesive and comprehensive Sociology curriculum.
  • Encourage student participation in extracurricular Sociology activities and competitions.

Requirements:

  • Sociology Teacher with at least 1-2 years teaching experience
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is ideal or a relevant teaching qualification
  • Expertise in teaching Science to Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 students 
  • A passion for Social Sciences and a deep understanding of Sociology examination requirements and topics.
  • Strong communication skills, both in the classroom and with colleagues and parents.
  • Dedication to continuous professional development, staying up-to-date with the latest educational practices.
