Sensory Support Specialist (SEN School – Agency Temp to Perm)

Location: Preston, Lancashire

Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only – Temp to Perm via Agency

Start Date: ASAP


About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sensory Support Specialist to join a specialist SEN school setting. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children and young people with sensory processing needs, ensuring they can fully engage in their learning and development.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will design and deliver sensory programmes, adapt learning environments, and work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and parents to ensure each pupil’s individual needs are met.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and identify sensory needs of pupils, in collaboration with the SEN team and therapists.

  • Develop and implement personalised sensory support plans.

  • Provide 1:1 and small group interventions to support engagement, focus, and emotional regulation.

  • Advise and train staff on sensory strategies and classroom adaptations.

  • Monitor and record pupil progress, adjusting plans as needed.

  • Support pupils with a range of SEN, including autism, sensory processing disorder, and physical disabilities.


Requirements

  • Experience working in an SEN setting or with pupils with sensory needs.

  • Knowledge of sensory integration strategies and equipment.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to inclusion.

  • Relevant qualifications in SEN, therapy, or education (desirable but not essential if experienced).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
