SEND Teaching Assistant – Specialist Provision

Location: Crowborough, East Sussex
Start: Immediate (once fully online)
Hours: Full-time or part-time opportunities available

Role Overview:
We are currently recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a specialist school setting in Crowborough. This is a rewarding role supporting children and young people with a range of SEND and SEMH needs, helping them to access learning, develop independence, and feel safe and supported within the school environment.

You will work closely with class teachers and support staff to deliver tailored classroom support, encourage positive behaviour, and support pupils’ social and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support pupils in the classroom to engage with learning activities and routines.
• Assist with differentiated tasks to meet individual learning needs.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication and behaviour in line with agreed strategies.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement with learning.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEN teams and external professionals.
• Contribute to a calm, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate:
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Genuine interest in supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Experience in education, care or support roles is desirable but not essential.
• Willingness to learn and adapt within a specialist setting.

Safeguarding & DBS:
All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (child workforce) or be willing to apply for one through Teaching Personnel. Candidates will be required to cover the cost of the DBS; however, this is a valuable investment as it enables access to ongoing school-based work. Full support will be provided throughout the DBS process.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
