SEND Teaching Assistant – Full Time – Budleigh Salterton

Location: Budleigh Salterton, Devon
Pay: £90–£100 per day
Contract: Full-time (Monday–Friday, term time only)

Are you a caring and motivated individual looking to make a real difference in education? Teaching Personnel is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to support children and young people with additional needs in a specialist school based in Budleigh Salterton, East Devon.

The school caters for pupils aged 3–19 with a range of complex learning difficulties, including:

  • Severe and moderate learning difficulties (SLD/MLD)

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

  • Communication and interaction needs

  • Sensory and physical needs

  • Social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges

The setting provides a nurturing, inclusive and creative environment where every learner is encouraged to reach their potential through personalised learning, therapeutic support, and practical experiences.

Role Responsibilities
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with additional needs on a 1:1 or small group basis

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons

  • Implement individual education and behaviour plans (IEPs/IBPs)

  • Encourage communication, independence, and confidence in learners

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff

About You
We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about supporting children with SEND

  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient

  • Able to build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff

  • Experienced in (or eager to learn about) working with children with additional needs

  • Reliable, flexible, and committed to helping every learner succeed

Experience in a SEND or care environment is desirable but not essential – full training and ongoing support are provided through Teaching Personnel.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
