An opportunity has arisen for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant within a Special School in Bradford. This is a full time role (term time only) for the 2018/19 academic year.

Catering for pupils with complex learning and medical needs aged from 2-19, the school are committed to providing learning opportunities through a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum which allows all to achieve and celebrate success. Following a recent restructure, we are seeking a Teaching Assistant to work within a Key Stage One class, supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities. You will support individual and groups of pupils to access core subjects, as well as participation within a sensory curriculum, designed to meet pupils' holistic needs. This programme includes physical education (rebound therapy and hydrotherapy swimming), Speech and Language Therapy and Physiotherapy. You will also be required to supervise pupils during lunchtime, and may be required to support individuals with feeding. Due to the nature of pupil needs, you will also be required to carry out personal care.

The school is situated close to Horton Park, with good public transport links from the city centre, as well as by car from the surrounding areas. There are approximately 250 pupils who currently attend, and the school is expecting to grow to 300+ over the next academic year.

As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will have previous experience of supporting pupils with complex learning needs, ideally within a specialist setting. You must also possess or be willing to undertake training in Team Teach and/or Moving and Handling. You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as you will be required to give feedback to students, contribute to reports and Education, Health and Care Plans (ECHP), and liaise with teachers, learning support staff, school therapists, medical staff and parents/carers.

In return for your commitment as an SEND Teaching Assistant, we can offer:

  • Competitive daily pay rates of up to £75
  • Continual professional development (CPD) opportunities (including Team Teach, Moving and Handling, and Autism Awareness)
  • Flexible working patterns
  • Safe Working Practice - ensuring your reputation is protected
