You will deliver personalised one-to-one tuition in homes, schools and alternative educational settings. Pupils may need help improving their subject knowledge, preparing for GCSE examinations, catching up on missed learning or gradually returning to education following an extended absence.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by helping learners develop their skills, confidence and independence.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide individual tuition tailored to each pupil’s abilities, learning style and educational objectives.
  • Develop structured lesson plans and engaging resources to encourage participation.
  • Assess learning needs, identify areas for improvement and adapt teaching approaches.
  • Support pupils in building confidence, resilience and effective learning routines.
  • Use positive behaviour management strategies to maintain focus and engagement.
  • Monitor progress and communicate updates to parents, schools and relevant professionals.
  • Keep accurate records of lessons, attendance and pupil achievements.
  • Follow safeguarding requirements and ensure pupils’ welfare remains a priority.

Subjects and Specialisms

We are interested in tutors with knowledge or experience in:

  • Primary English, reading, writing and Maths.
  • Secondary English, Mathematics and Science.
  • GCSE subjects and examination preparation.
  • Functional Skills qualifications.
  • Humanities, Languages and Computing.
  • Creative subjects and other curriculum areas.
  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Home education and alternative provision.

Essential Criteria

To be considered for these opportunities, applicants should have:

  • A minimum of two years’ teaching or tutoring experience within the UK.
  • Experience supporting primary, secondary, GCSE, Functional Skills or SEND pupils.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and lesson-planning skills.
  • The ability to motivate learners and respond appropriately to behavioural challenges.
  • The ability to travel to assignments across Towcester and nearby locations, with reliable transport or suitable travel arrangements.
  • An Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one.

QTS, PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification is desirable but not essential.

Additional Experience We Value

Experience supporting children and young people with additional needs is particularly welcome, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Dyslexia and dyspraxia.
  • Speech, language and communication difficulties.
  • Emotionally Based School Non-Attendance (EBSNA).

Why Work with TP Tutors?

  • Flexible assignments that can fit around your availability.
  • Opportunities to deliver meaningful, individualised educational support.
  • Experience working across different learning environments.
  • Potential for ongoing placements and permanent roles.

Ready to make a difference? Apply to TP Tutors today and help learners in Towcester develop confidence, overcome challenges and achieve their educational goals.

All pay rates quoted are inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.

TP Tutors is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All educators are subject to safeguarding checks in line with Department for Education (DfE) guidance including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE). This may also include an online search as part of our safer recruitment process.

All educators must complete our annual tuition training programme, covering Safeguarding, Prevent Duty, KCSIE, Allergy Awareness, and Child-on-Child Abuse Awareness. Tutors must also hold, or be willing to obtain, a valid Child-only Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service, with full guidance provided.

Many pupils supported by TP Tutors require tailored educational provision. Tutors should be confident in building positive relationships, adapting their approach to meet individual needs, and maintaining high standards of professionalism and safeguarding at all times. Tutors must also be able to effectively plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that meet the learner’s individual needs, monitor progress, and adapt teaching strategies to support positive outcomes.
