Help Young Learners Succeed

TP Tutors is seeking passionate and reliable Education Tutors to support children and young people across Daventry and nearby areas. This role is ideal for teachers and experienced tutors who want to make a meaningful difference to pupils’ academic progress, confidence and personal development.

You will provide tailored, one-to-one tuition in pupils’ homes, schools and alternative education settings. Some learners may need help catching up on missed lessons, preparing for GCSE examinations, improving core skills or returning to education after an extended absence.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver personalised lessons based on pupils’ abilities and learning goals.
• Prepare engaging activities and resources to encourage participation.
• Assess progress, identify learning gaps and adapt teaching methods.
• Build pupils’ confidence, motivation and independent learning skills.
• Support children with different abilities and additional educational needs.
• Communicate with parents, school staff and other professionals where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress and lesson outcomes.
• Follow safeguarding, child protection and relevant professional procedures.

Subjects and Areas of Support

We welcome tutors with experience in one or more of the following:

• Primary English, reading, writing and numeracy.
• Secondary subjects and GCSE preparation.
• English, Mathematics and Science.
• Functional Skills English and Maths.
• Humanities, Modern Foreign Languages and Computing.
• Creative Arts and other curriculum subjects.
• Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
• Home tuition and alternative education provision.

Essential Requirements

• At least two years of teaching or tutoring experience in the UK.
• Experience supporting primary, secondary, GCSE, Functional Skills or SEND learners.
• Strong communication, planning and organisational skills.
• The ability to engage pupils and respond appropriately to behavioural challenges.
• Reliable transport or the ability to travel across Daventry and nearby locations.
• An Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

QTS, PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification is desirable but not essential.

Desirable Experience

Experience supporting pupils with autism (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, dyslexia, speech and language difficulties, EHCPs, emotional or behavioural challenges, or disrupted education would be advantageous.

Experience in one-to-one tuition, home-based learning or alternative provision is also beneficial.

Location and Availability

Assignments are available across Daventry and surrounding areas, depending on local demand. Tutors must be able to travel to pupils’ homes, schools and alternative settings and be available Monday to Friday during school hours.

All pay rates quoted are inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.

All educators must complete our annual tuition training programme, covering Safeguarding, Prevent Duty, KCSIE, Allergy Awareness, and Child-on-Child Abuse Awareness. Tutors must also hold, or be willing to obtain, a valid Child-only Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service, with full guidance provided.

Many pupils supported by TP Tutors require tailored educational provision. Tutors should be confident in building positive relationships, adapting their approach to meet individual needs, and maintaining high standards of professionalism and safeguarding at all times. Tutors must also be able to effectively plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that meet the learner’s individual needs, monitor progress, and adapt teaching strategies to support positive outcomes.
