Help Every Learner Move Forward

TP Tutors is recruiting motivated and compassionate Education Tutors to deliver tailored tuition to children and young people in Daventry and nearby communities.

This is a great opportunity for teachers and experienced tutors who want flexible work while helping pupils overcome educational challenges, improve their knowledge and develop a more positive approach to learning.

You will provide individual tuition in pupils’ homes, schools and alternative education settings. Depending on each placement, you may help pupils strengthen subject knowledge, prepare for examinations, develop essential academic skills or reconnect with education after a period away from school.

What the Role Involves

  • Deliver one-to-one sessions suited to each pupil’s learning level and individual targets.
  • Design lesson plans and resources that make learning accessible and engaging.
  • Evaluate progress and adapt sessions to address areas requiring additional support.
  • Use appropriate strategies to meet a range of educational abilities and learning needs.
  • Build positive relationships that encourage participation, resilience and independent study.
  • Work alongside parents, schools and other professionals to support pupils’ development.
  • Record learning outcomes and adhere to safeguarding and child protection requirements.

Subjects and Tuition Areas

We are interested in tutors who can support one or more of the following:

  • English, Mathematics and Science.
  • Primary curriculum subjects, reading, writing and numeracy.
  • Secondary-level subjects and GCSE revision.
  • Functional Skills qualifications.
  • Humanities and Modern Foreign Languages.
  • Computing, Creative Arts and other National Curriculum subjects.
  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Home education and alternative provision.

Essential Criteria

Applicants should have:

  • At least two years of teaching or tutoring experience in the UK.
  • Experience or knowledge of primary, secondary, GCSE, Functional Skills or SEND education.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, planning and organisational skills.
  • The ability to engage pupils and respond appropriately to behavioural challenges.
  • The ability to travel reliably to tuition assignments in Daventry and surrounding areas.
  • An Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one.

QTS, PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification is desirable, but not mandatory.

Additional Experience We Value

Experience supporting learners with additional needs is beneficial. This may include autism (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, dyslexia, speech and language difficulties, EHCPs, emotional or behavioural challenges, and pupils experiencing disrupted education.

Experience in home tutoring, one-to-one interventions or alternative provision is also an advantage.

Why Join TP Tutors?

  • Competitive weekly pay.
  • Flexible placements across a range of educational environments.
  • Dedicated support from a specialist consultant.
  • Weekly in-house payroll.
  • Free CPD and skills development opportunities.
  • Access to local tuition assignments.
  • Temporary work with potential for longer-term or permanent roles.
  • A rewarding opportunity to help young people achieve their educational goals.

Location and Working Hours

Tuition opportunities are available across Daventry and nearby areas of Northamptonshire. Tutors should be able to travel to pupils’ homes, schools and alternative education settings and work Monday to Friday during school hours.
