SEND Support Assistant
Job description
Teaching Personnel is recruiting compassionate and dedicated SEN Support Assistants to join our bank of staff supporting secondary school pupils aged 11–16 with special educational needs.
This role is ideal for individuals passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and helping them access education in a supportive and inclusive environment.
The Role
As an SEN Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, supporting their academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and engagement in learning. You will work alongside teaching staff and SENCO teams to provide tailored support based on individual pupil needs.
Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN

Support pupils with needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties

Help pupils access classroom learning and stay engaged
-
Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour
-
Adapt support strategies to meet individual pupil needs

Work collaboratively with teachers and SEN staff

Monitor and report on pupil progress
Requirements
-
Experience working with young people or in an educational setting (preferred)
-
Experience supporting SEN pupils desirable but not essential
-
Patient, understanding, and supportive approach
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
-
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply

Right to work in the UK

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
