We are working with a specialist primary and secondary SEMH setting in Hailsham that is looking to bring in multiple Teaching Assistants immediately.

There are several vacancies to fill, and the school is keen to move quickly for the right people.

The Role

You’ll be working closely with pupils who need support to engage, regulate and succeed in school.

Day to day, that might look like:

• Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups
• Helping manage behaviour through calm, consistent approaches
• Supporting emotional regulation and re-engagement in learning
• Working alongside teachers and pastoral teams
• Building trust with pupils who need stability and reliability

Experience in SEND or SEMH is helpful, but not essential.

If you don’t have direct experience, what matters is your attitude, presence, and ability to build relationships. Backgrounds in coaching, support work, youth work or similar often translate well.

You will need:

• An enhanced child-only DBS on the Update Service
• If you don’t have one, you must be willing to apply immediately (cost covered by the applicant, with support provided)
• References covering at least 24 months of employment
  • This can be across multiple roles
  • It does not need to be continuous
  • We aim for this to be as recent and consistent as possible, but the key requirement is that it totals 24 months
• A full 10-year work and/or education history
• Right-to-work documentation
