 SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistant Needed – Stockton-on-Tees

Support a child. Make a difference.

Are you an experienced and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant with the skills to support children with challenging behaviour? We’re recruiting for a 1:1 role in a welcoming school in Stockton-on-Tees, working closely with a child who needs consistent, tailored support.

 About the Role:

  • Position: 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant

  • Location: Stockton-on-Tees

  • Start Date: ASAP

  • Hours: Full-time, term-time only

  • Contract: Ongoing supply, with potential for long-term placement

You’ll work closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to provide structured, individualised support to help the child access the curriculum and thrive in a safe, supportive environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 support for a child with identified behavioural needs

  • Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour in a positive, consistent way

  • Implementing behaviour strategies and personalised support plans

  • Promoting emotional regulation and social skills

  • Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with SEND and/or behavioural needs

  • Strong behaviour management skills and calm, patient approach

  • A resilient and empathetic attitude

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain)

  • Team Teach or similar training is an advantage (not essential)

  • A genuine commitment to helping children succeed

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
