A highly reputable and award-winning Multi Academy Trust is seeking a committed and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to join the permanent staff of one of its thriving schools in the London Borough of Merton. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic, supportive environment and play a pivotal role in leading the school’s SEND provision. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic development of SEND provision to ensure a high-quality, inclusive education for all students.
- Coordinate and oversee the assessment, planning, and delivery of support for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
- Work closely with teaching staff, senior leaders, and external agencies to identify and meet pupils' individual needs.
- Maintain and develop effective communication with parents and carers regarding SEND matters.
- Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and other relevant statutory requirements.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to complete within 3 years of appointment, if not already held).
- Proven experience of working effectively as a SENCo or in a leadership role supporting pupils with SEND.
- Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and current educational legislation.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
- A passion for inclusive education and a child-centred approach.
Desirable:
- Experience working within a multi-academy trust setting.
- Previous involvement in whole-school strategic planning around inclusion.
