Special Educational Needs Support Coordinator (SENCO) | Central Cambridge | Full time

Essential Criteria: SENCO/Access Arrangement Assessor qualifications preferred, or the desire to acquire these

Teaching Personnel is currently working with an International school in Cambridge who are looking to add an additional learning support co-ordinator to their college.

The role:

As the new SENCo you will provide high quality, co-ordinated support for pupils and liaise with their parents, teachers and other professionals who are involved with them. This includes general assessments, administration and parental support. You must be able to communicate a clear vision for the team and school, collaborating with curriculum teachers at the school to make sure that the learning requirements of our pupils are expertly catered for.

Your role will ultimately be accountable for all areas of SEND provision, EHCP reviews, IEPs, intervention provision, teaching assistant and HLTA deployment as well as being the designated teacher for LAC pupils.

To achieve this you will be someone who is innovative and highly effective in working with SEND pupils with experience at Secondary and or further education level. With this pivotal role you will lead, develop and manage a high standard of provision for learners with additional educational needs. You will be committed to ensuring that the standards of attainment are high and that students make accelerated and sustained progress.

Experience:

  • Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with SEN
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge
  • Commitment to the role, the desire to put children first and treat them as individuals
  • Be positive and creative in meeting pupils' needs
  • Work collaboratively with other staff and professionals with good interpersonal skills
  • Superb communication and stakeholder management skills
