Are you an experienced teacher or tutor with a passion for supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

TP Tutors, part of Teaching Personnel, is looking for dedicated SEN Specialist Tutors to provide personalised 1:1 tuition to pupils across Bedford and the surrounding areas. Tuition may take place in pupils’ homes, schools or suitable community settings, primarily during school hours.

Pay

Competitive pay depending on experience, qualifications, pupil needs and the tuition assignment.

Working Pattern

• Flexible part-time and full-time opportunities.
• Tuition delivered during school hours, Monday to Friday.
• Long-term and ongoing tuition assignments available.
• Travel between tuition locations may be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and personalised 1:1 tuition based on each pupil's individual needs.
• Adapt teaching strategies, resources and activities to support different SEND needs.
• Plan lessons that promote academic progress, confidence and independence.
• Support pupils with their individual learning targets and EHCP outcomes where applicable.
• Monitor pupil progress and complete session reports.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, families, schools and relevant professionals.
• Encourage pupils to develop confidence, resilience and a positive attitude towards learning.
• Create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.
• Support pupils who may have experienced barriers to accessing mainstream education.

Must-Have Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years' UK teaching or tutoring experience.
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Strong understanding of the UK National Curriculum and differentiated teaching strategies.
• Excellent communication, behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual needs.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, or reliable travel arrangements.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Right to work in the UK.

Desirable

• QTS, PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience supporting pupils with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, dyslexia, speech and language needs or other additional learning needs.
• Experience delivering tuition in alternative provision, specialist settings or pupils' homes.
• Knowledge and understanding of EHCPs.
• Experience supporting pupils who are disengaged from mainstream education.

Location

This role is primarily based across Bedford and surrounding areas, with tuition locations dependent on individual pupil requirements.
