Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

Our specialist SEN branch on behalf of a Special Needs School in Rhondda Cynon Taf have been asked to recruit a number of teaching assistants to join them as they continue to build upon their one-of-a-kind ethos. The school itself has state of the art facilitates and is an ideal opportunity for anyone to share their passion of supporting children with SEN with others. All pupils within this school have Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and many of which have a diagnosis of autistic spectrum disorder which often comes hand in hand with challenging behaviour.

We solely recruit candidates who have experience of working with pupils who have SEN and all applicants need to ensure they are able to work within a strong team whilst using their initiative.

We are always looking for candidates with excellent communication skills, the ability to build relationships with pupils, and a great understanding of the specific needs of children with PMLD. Majority of pupils are wheelchair users, are medically dependent and require support with personal care. Pupils have access to fantastic facilities which include: Hydrotherapy pool, sensory rooms and onsite physiotherapists

Many of the pupils have low mobility so urgently require someone who is Moving & Handling trained.

The pupils need someone with experience who is dedicated to working with SEN pupils. They need to be confident in the classroom and have innovative ways of helping PMLD students. The lessons are delivered to be sensory stimulating and interactive for the pupils, so experience with this type of lesson is advantageous.

**All successful applicants will be subject to a DBS check as we hold safeguarding children and young people at the highest regard in addition to full registration with the Education Workforce Council**
