SEN Teaching assistant - Oldham
Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
An outstanding Multi Academy trust is looking to appoint an SEN teaching assistant to start as soon as possible. Initially, the position will be temporary and will involve working until July 2019, however this could result in a permanent position for the right teaching assistant. The trust runs across 4 sites based in Oldham. Sites cater for individuals between 4 - 19 with a Statement of SEN or an EHCP, on the autistic spectrum and/or have significant communication and interaction difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
This role will involve working in co-operation with the classroom teacher to plan and implement targeted interventions to support and encourage the development of pupils with SEND. Due to the specific needs of the pupils we would be interested in applicants who have a considerable amount of experience supporting children or young people with SEN needs, within the primary or secondary sector. We would also welcome applications from less experienced individuals who can demonstrate a genuine interest in supporting pupils with SEND needs. Ideally the teaching assistant will have experience working within a special needs setting, however this is not essential as long as the teaching assistant has an in-depth understanding of how to cater for pupils with SEND.
The successful teaching assistant will:
- Be committed to ensuring that all pupils with SEND can achieve their optimal potential
- Be able to demonstrate a commitment to catering for the needs of pupils with SEND
- Be able to foster positive working relationships with other staff, pupils, parents and the wider community
- Ideally Team-Teach trained (can be provided)
- Be hard working, organised and proactive in their professional development
If you would like to be considered for this post and feel that you have the skills and expertise to succeed in the role, please apply directly.
