Nuneaton - Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are looking for passionate and caring individuals to provide in school support for children with moderate to severe learning difficulties. You may be required to work 1:1 with a particular student or work as a Teaching Assistant for small classes in a Special School based in Nuneaton. They provide education for young people aged 4 to 19 who have a wide range of special educational needs including profound, severe and moderate learning disabilities. A growing number of their young people have an autistic spectrum condition.

You will promote student's education as well as their personal development, working alongside the class teacher. The role involves:

  • Working together with other support staff, teachers and medical staff
  • Aiding children with their communication and de-escalating challenging behaviour
  • Enabling student participation in lesson times, during playtime or on school trips
  • Being aware of emergency procedures e.g. fire alarm procedures or in the event of a fall/accident

We accept applications from people who are:

  • Experienced supporting individuals with Special Needs
  • Experienced teaching assistants, support workers, people from a care background
  • A DBS on the Update Service (or willing to get one)
