Teaching Personnel are currently working alongside a Specialist SEN School in Haverfordwest, who are looking to assign a Specialist SEN Assistant with the aspiration of a start in October 2020 and opportunity to become a permanent member of staff at the school.
The school caters for pupils aged 3-19 with a range of SEN which includes Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties and Speech and Language Delay. You will need to be the flexible individual and be prepared to work in different areas across the school, supporting pupils with a wide range of additional needs. Your role will be to support pupils requiring additional support with communication, including those pupils with a mechanical system of communication and PECS. You may also be required to use British Sign Language and/or Makaton, (a form of sign language for SEN pupils) so training in either of these would be beneficial.
As the successful candidate you will be strong minded and have high interpersonal skills in order to communicate with families, carers and a multidisciplinary team of teaching staff, social workers, speech and language therapists and educational psychologists. You will be organised, patient and confident, with a sound understanding of meeting the social, emotional and mental health needs of young people with Special Educational Needs.

- Picture Exchange Communication (PECS)
- Makaton or BSL (to any level)
- Autism Awareness/ASC Training
- Team Teach
- Moving and Handling
