Learning Support/ Teaching Assistant – Basingstoke

Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant for employment in an established Residential and day school. The post is to start ASAP, with the possibility of becoming a permanent member of staff!

The school has high numbers of pupils from challenging behaviours such as ADHD, ASC and SEMH. You will work closely with your colleagues to create action plans for students across the Key Stage 2-4, taking an active role in implementing a programme that positively encourages pupils to overcome barriers to learning, improve their skills and ultimately raise engagement and attainment in school.

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll typically need to:

• Follow instructions from Teachers in order to support effectively in the class room
• Adhere to professional practice standards and legislation, including confidentiality, safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion policies
• Ensure you're up-to-date on your knowledge of local service provision for appropriate signposting and referrals
• Support students on 1:1, adapting your approach on a case by case basis in order to engage students effectively
• Help children with learning and development
• Coach, mentor and motivate children to understand the benefits of relevant activities
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date administration and caseload records, including reports of all interactions

Minimal Requirements: 

• A child workforce DBS on the update service, or be willing to apply for one at a cost of GBP40 for the application and GBP13 for the update service
• Be approachable and encourage to develop relationships with other staff members and the pupils
• Previous experience with the SEN students is preferred, but we will consider newly qualified teachers for this role
• Be able to provide 2 references covering 6 year
• Good communication and listening skills
• The ability to build and maintain rapport with children
• Full UK driving license, as some of the schools are hard to get to on public transport.
