A GOOD Leeds Primary school I work in partnership with are looking for a hard-working and experienced Teaching Assistant to start in January for a full-time position.
The school are looking to appoint someone prior to the Christmas Holidays so you can experience some time in school before commencing your official role. This will be a long term position on a full time basis until July 2021 initially, but could become permanent on a schools contract at the end of the year.
As a Specialist Teaching Assistant you will be working 1-1 and in small groups with children who have additional needs such as autism or challenging behaviour. You will be required to work closely with the class teacher and schools SENCO to ensure children are in line with their targets and following their Educational Health Care Plans. Having experience of supporting children with autism and being confident in engaging them in work is essential as you will be their consistent staff member who will support them till the end of the academic year.
I require staff with the ability to support and create a stimulating learning environment. Candidates applying for this role MUST have a Level 3 Qualification and at least 6 months experience of working with children in order to be considered for this position.
The successful candidates will be working Monday to Friday 8:30am- 3:30pm. Depending on how well the candidate works within the school there may well be an opportunity for the role to become permanent at the end of the academic year.
Primary responsibilities:
- Be committed to the safeguarding of children
- Encourage children's learning and engagement with class activities
- Help them become confident young children who can engage in social activities
- Support with reading, writing and maths
- To take responsibility for the welfare and safety of all the children
- To be an effective Teaching Assistant, planning and implementing appropriate learning experiences within a stimulating learning environment
- Maintain high professional standards of attendance, punctuality, appearances, conduct a positive and courteous relations with children, parents and colleagues
- Monitor children’s progress, keep meaningful records and evaluate performance through formative assessments
