Are you experienced in interacting and engaging with young adults with Autism, Aspergers, Dyslexia, Social and Emotional Health (SEMH) issues or any of the above? Please see below for further information:

A secondary school on the east side of Manchester is looking to recruit a SEN Teaching Assistant who can support within the school’s SEN department. The school’s special educational needs co-ordinator (SENCO) is specifically looking for an experienced SEN specialist who can support identified students who have a variety of special needs. Any experience of working with those with autism, dyslexia, hearing impairment and working with students who have social and emotional issues and are therefore vulnerable, would be highly desirable.

Key aspects of the SEN Teaching Assistant position:

  • Pay ranging between GBP60 - GBP75 per day depending on specific experience
  • SEN TA role supporting vulnerable students in a highly supportive SEN department
  • Work with the school’s inclusion team, under the SENCO and Assistant SENCO
  • Full time teaching assistant role available to start in November following the Autumn half term
  • Applications highly encouraged from experienced TAs or those with experience of engaging with young people with various needs (personal or work life)

The school’s SEN department is an integral part of the school having an area within the resource centre where 1:1 work takes place with students. The team consists of the SENCO, Assistant SENCO and a team of Teaching Assistants. The team works closely together to ensure students are supported appropriately and collaborate on a daily basis. The SEN TA should be adept in working on their own as well as in a team; whilst you will primarily be working on a 1:1 basis and in small groups with students, there will be an element of working with the class teacher.

The school are therefore looking for a confident and motivated SEN TA who can offer their skillset to the department but most importantly provide assistant to those students most vulnerable. As a SEN TA, you will work within the school’s inclusion department as well as supporting students as they integrate into full classes within a variety of subjects.

The school is located on the east side of Manchester close to Tameside making it very easy to access for any TAs who live in central Manchester, Tameside or Stockport. The school is located close to the metrolink tram line making public transport ideal to get to the school as well as being on one of the major roads from the city centre.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
