Temp to Perm SEN Teaching Assistant

A welcoming and supportive small primary school in Wallasey, Wirral is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This is a full-time position, offering a temp-to-perm opportunity for the right candidate.

The successful applicant will be based within the school’s nurture unit, providing whole-classroom support to pupils with a range of additional needs. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to create a calm, structured, and nurturing environment, supporting pupils’ social, emotional, and communication development, as well as their engagement with learning. Experience using communication strategies such as PECS, visual timetables, or Makaton would be highly beneficial.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have proven experience supporting children with Autism, including non-verbal pupils
  • Be confident delivering whole-class and small-group support
  • Show patience, resilience, and a nurturing approach
  • Be proactive and able to adapt to individual pupil needs
  • Have a genuine passion for supporting children with SEND

In return, the school offers a warm, inclusive culture and strong staff support. Additional CPD and SEN-focused training will be provided through Teaching Personnel and the school, making this an excellent opportunity for professional development and long-term progression.
