Teaching Assistant – SEN (Temp to Perm)

Birkenhead | Small Mainstream Primary School

Teaching Personnel, the UK’s leading education recruitment agency, is working in partnership with a small, welcoming mainstream primary school in Birkenhead to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant for a temp-to-perm opportunity within an SEN class.

This role is ideal for a passionate educator who thrives on making a meaningful difference to children with additional needs.


Start Date

  • Preferred: May 2026
  • Flexible: The school is happy to wait until September 2026 for the right Educator

The Role

  • Working 1:1 and in small groups with pupils who have EHCPs
  • Supporting children with a range of SEND
  • Based within a specialist SEN class in a mainstream setting
  • Helping pupils access the curriculum, regulate emotions, and develop independence
  • Working closely with class teachers, SENCO, and wider support staff

Pay

£14.25 – £16.77 per hour (£92 – £109 per day)

(Pay rate dependent on experience and responsibilities)


The Ideal Candidate Will:

✅ Have experience supporting pupils with SEND and EHCPs
✅ Be confident working 1:1 with multiple pupils
✅ Demonstrate patience, resilience, and a nurturing approach
✅ Have experience in a mainstream or SEN setting (school-based preferred)
✅ Be committed to safeguarding and inclusive education
