Special Educational Needs Primary Teaching Assistant Role

Job Type: Temporary/full time

Pay: £83.34 a day

Location: Swansea

Teaching personnel are hiring teaching assistants to work with primary age pupils who have additional learning needs. Teaching assistants play an important role in the education and development of children. We are looking for teaching assistants who are passionate about giving children an extra hand throughout the school day.

Teaching assistant role:

Your role as a teaching assistant is to support the pupils throughout their school day with a variety of needs, some cases can involve personal care, you will be required to support pupils with a variety of daily needs and help them tackle the challenges a school day can bring. You will work with pupils in small groups and on a 1:1 basis. You will be required to encourage independence for daily tasks like putting coats on, you will likely witness/experience aggressive behaviour, we can offer a heavily discounted team teach course to assist with this.

Our teaching assistants will play an active role in assisting the class teacher in delivering challenging and motivating lessons to aid the development of pupils, although you will need to use creative ways to help adapt activities depending on the learners needs.

What do you need to be a Teaching Assistant:

  • Valid enhanced DBS check (We can provide support in obtaining one)
  • Registration with the EWC
  • Positive approach to working with children.
  • Patience to support pupils.
  • Initiative to get involved and support throughout the day.
  • Reactive to any situation to avoid them escalating further.
  • Caring personality and ability to build a positive professional relationship with pupils.
