Job Opportunity: Secondary Teaching Assistant in Southsea
School Overview: Are you passionate about supporting students with special educational needs (SEN)? We're currently seeking a Secondary Teaching Assistant to join an SEN school in Southsea. Catering to 181 pupils aged 2-19, this school provides a highly specialized curriculum for those with profound, severe, and complex learning difficulties. Many students also have co-occurring needs such as Autism Spectrum Condition and severe physical disabilities.
Position Details:
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
- Salary: Earn approximately £1500+ per month
- Contract: Temp to perm contracts available
Responsibilities:
- Assist class teachers and fellow Teaching Assistants throughout the day.
- Support students with completing tasks, engage in group activities, and provide alternative learning environments.
- Aid in teaching and learning across the school, focusing on students struggling with the curriculum.
- Conduct smaller group sessions and 1:1 support to help students reach their potential.
- Provide assistance to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.
- Collaborate with the SENCO to monitor academic and social progress.
Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience with SEN students preferred.
- Specialisms in ASD, Speech and Language, SLD, or other Learning Disabilities highly desirable.
- Patience, compassion, and flexibility are essential.
- Energetic individuals with experience in profound and complex disabilities and/or autism preferred.
- Training provided for suitable candidates.
- Suitable for those interested in a career in teaching or learning support.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
