Job description

Teaching Personnel are working with a primary school in Penarth who are looking for a proactive and supportive Teaching Assistant to join their team.

This role would suit someone who enjoys working with children, builds positive relationships naturally and can provide the practical and academic support pupils need to get the most from their time in the classroom.

‍ The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside the class teacher to support pupils throughout the school day. Depending on the needs of the class, you may work with the whole group, small groups or provide 1:1 support.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils during lessons and independent activities
  • Working with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning
  • Helping pupils develop confidence and independence
  • Supporting literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum activities
  • Encouraging pupils to remain engaged and focused
  • Providing additional explanation or guidance when pupils need it
  • Supporting positive behaviour and classroom routines
  • Helping prepare resources and learning activities
  • Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team
  • Creating a positive, inclusive and welcoming classroom environment

⭐ Who We're Looking For

The school is looking for someone who is reliable, patient and adaptable, with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils and staff.

You may have previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, childcare practitioner or youth worker. However, relevant experience outside of education can also be valuable.

  • Excellent communication skills

  • The ability to adapt to different pupils and situations
  • Good teamwork skills
  • Strong organisation and reliability
  • A genuine interest in supporting children's development
