SEN Teaching Assistant

Primary schools across Leicester are looking for SEN Teaching Assistants to work on a 1:1, small group or full class basis with various requirements.

 Successful candidates will have experience working with children with a range of SEN needs including SEMH, Autism, Dyslexia, behavioural challenges, learning difficulties etc. 

The Role 

Primarily based in the classroom, duties may vary but can include:

• Liaising with Heads of Faculty and SENCO about progress being made

• Helping children understand instructions, through repetition, re-phrasing or demonstrating.
• Putting into practice individual education, social, behavioural and personal care programmes.
• Encouraging children to communicate with one another and with staff.
• Recognising signs of distress in children and offering reassurance.

SEN TA’s

you will manage sen pupils across the primary site, working with a variety of children who have SEMH needs including EBD, anxiety, attachment needs. Primarily based in the classroom you will work with key children on a 1:1 basis to raise their attainment. There will also be some out of class work liaising with other agencies, writing reports and planning intervention sessions with class teachers.
