SEN Teaching Assistant

Location:

Yorkshire and the Humber, West Yorkshire, Leeds, LS8

Job Type:

Temporary, expected to work Full-Time hours

£85 - £100 Per day

Job Duties:

  • Supporting the educational, social, and emotional development of children with special educational needs (SEN)
  • Assisting the classroom teacher in planning and delivering tailored lessons for SEN pupils
  • Providing one-on-one support to children with SEN to help them achieve their learning goals
  • Creating and implementing individual education plans (IEPs) for pupils with SEN
  • Assisting with behaviour management and promoting a positive learning environment
  • Collaborating with other professionals, parents, and external agencies to support SEN children

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent qualifications)
  • Relevant experience working with children or young people with SEN
  • Knowledge of SEN support strategies and interventions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Education:

Relevant qualifications in Education or Special Educational Needs

Experience:

Prior experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role with SEN pupils

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of SEN policies and procedures
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of SEN children
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Training in specific areas of SEN, such as Autism or ADHD

Working Conditions:

  • Work primarily takes place in a school setting
  • May involve some physical activity and assisting students with mobility needs
  • Regular collaboration with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
