Mainstream Primary School
Location: Lancaster
Working through: Teaching Personnel
Start Date: ASAP or September opportunities available
Contract: Full-time / Part-time | Term Time Only
Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience


About the Role

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a welcoming mainstream primary school in Lancaster to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant. This role involves providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with Special Educational Needs, helping them access the curriculum and develop confidence and independence.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs in a positive, inclusive learning environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and learning difficulties
  • Deliver 1:1 SEN support and targeted interventions
  • Implement EHCPs, IEPs, and individual support plans
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and engagement
  • Support pupils during transitions, break times, and activities
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
  • Uphold safeguarding and inclusive practice at all times

Person Specification

  • Experience supporting children with SEN (education or care settings)
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Passion for inclusive education
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
