SEN Teaching Assistant – Chorley (Temp to Perm Opportunity)

We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Chorley, supporting pupils across Early Years and Primary age groups.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals—particularly graduates in Psychology, Education, or related fields—who are looking to build hands-on experience supporting children with additional needs in a structured and rewarding environment.

The Role:

  • Supporting pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including autism, SEMH, and associated learning difficulties
  • Working on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to promote engagement and development
  • Assisting with behaviour management, including responding to challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
  • Supporting pupils with personal care where required
  • Collaborating with teaching staff and therapists to deliver tailored support strategies

Ideal Candidate:

  • Background in Psychology, Education, Youth Work, Care, or similar
  • Confident, patient, and adaptable in managing behaviour
  • Comfortable supporting personal care needs
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils
  • A proactive and committed approach to supporting vulnerable learners

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
