SEN Teaching Assistant 

Teaching Personnel are recruiting an SEN Teaching Assistant for a temporary to permanent opportunity at a specialist education provision in Longridge, Preston. This role involves supporting pupils with special educational needs within a structured and supportive school environment.

The position will begin on a temporary basis through Teaching Personnel, with the opportunity for a permanent handover to the school following a successful placement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting pupils with special educational needs in the classroom and during structured activities
  • Working one-to-one and in small groups to support learning and engagement
  • Assisting the teacher in delivering tailored educational activities and interventions
  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
  • Supporting pupils with social development, communication and independence skills
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and therapists
  • Ensuring a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with children or young people with special educational needs
  • Be patient, resilient and able to support pupils with additional learning needs
  • Have strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Be proactive and confident supporting behaviour and engagement
  • Have experience in education, care, youth work, residential childcare or similar support roles

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
