Chorley | Full-time | Temporary initially with permanent opportunities | Start ASAP

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a specialist school in Chorley to recruit a Teaching Assistant to support within a complex and challenging Early Years class, starting as soon as possible.

This is a full-time temporary position initially, with the potential to move into a permanent role for the right candidate. The role would suit individuals passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and who thrive in a dynamic, nurturing environment.

The School

The role is based in a specialist provision supporting pupils aged 4–16 with a wide range of complex special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The school prides itself on providing a safe, happy and nurturing environment where pupils are supported, challenged and celebrated as they progress through their educational journey.

The Role

You will be supporting pupils within an Early Years class for children with complex needs, helping to deliver a highly personalised curriculum focused on development, communication and engagement.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis

  • Assisting with sensory-based learning and play-based activities

  • Supporting children with communication, interaction and emotional regulation

  • Assisting with personal care where required

  • Working closely with teachers and therapists to support each child’s development

  • Creating a safe, structured and engaging learning environment

This role requires patience, resilience and a genuine passion for helping children with additional needs succeed.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Have experience working with SEN, early years, care or support settings

  • Are calm, nurturing and adaptable

  • Are confident supporting children with complex needs and behaviours that may challenge

  • Work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team

  • Are passionate about making a meaningful difference in children’s lives

Experience in SEND, care, youth work, psychology, early years or support work would be highly beneficial, although not essential for the right person.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
