Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant 
Location: Preston

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary specialist setting in Preston on a full-time, temp-to-perm basis.

The school supports primary-aged pupils with a range of additional needs including autism, communication difficulties, social and emotional needs, and complex learning needs. The setting provides a structured, nurturing environment where pupils are supported through personalised learning approaches and strong pastoral care.

We are looking for someone who is patient, adaptable, and passionate about supporting children with additional needs. The successful candidate will be able to build positive relationships with pupils and help them feel safe, engaged, and confident within the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with special educational needs
  • Support the class teacher with delivering adapted lessons and activities
  • Assist pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning
  • Follow behaviour support plans and structured routines
  • Encourage pupils’ independence, confidence, and social development
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure consistent support

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to adapt to different learning and behavioural needs
  • A genuine interest in supporting pupils within a specialist educational setting

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
