We’re looking for a caring, patient and reliable Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our specialist primary school in Shawford.

You’ll work with children aged 4-11 with Autism, moderate/severe learning difficulties and additional needs, helping them navigate the challenges of school, build confidence and develop the skills they need to thrive.

This is a role where the little things really matter. A child attempting something independently for the first time. A difficult morning turning into a successful day. A new skill finally clicking. Your support could be the difference that helps make those moments happen.

You’ll be part of a friendly, experienced school team where you’ll be supported to learn, develop and make a genuine difference every day.

What you’ll be doing

No two days will be exactly the same. You’ll provide a mixture of classroom, one-to-one and small-group support, working closely with teachers and other professionals to help each child get the most from their school day.

Your role may include:

• Supporting pupils with learning, communication and additional needs

• Helping children access lessons, activities and new experiences

• Encouraging independence, confidence and positive social skills

• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour

• Building warm, trusting relationships with pupils

• Working closely with teachers and the wider support team

• Helping children navigate transitions, break times and other school activities

• Encouraging pupils to develop the confidence and skills to become more independent learners

Most importantly, you’ll get to know the children you work with - understanding what motivates them, what helps them feel secure and how best to help them succeed.

What we’re looking for

You don’t necessarily need previous experience in a specialist school. Experience working with children or young people with SEND is valuable, but we’re equally interested in people who can bring transferable skills from education, childcare, care, youth work or other supportive roles.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
