Are you a passionate educator looking for a new role supporting children and young adults in a small specialist setting involving both personal care and educational support?

If so, then read on!

 

We are looking for a passionate and committed member of staff to take on a full-time SEN support role in a specialist SEN centre in Cambridge. The centre caters for around 20 pupils with a range of complex needs, such as physical disabilities, Down Syndrome, Deaf-blind, SPLC and Autism.

Many of the pupils within this setting are wheelchair users (electric, standing and tilting) so experience with this would be highly beneficial. The school offer training but they do need someone with some care / support experience.

The position is a full time, long-term role with a view to a permanent position on offer for the right members of staff. A trial can also be offered to view the setting first-hand and meet the pupils to gain an understanding of the requirements of the position. The role involves high levels of personal care however the setting is also passionate about educating young minds and are therefore a mixture of care and education experience is highly desired.

 

Key skills & experiences for the role:

  • Prior experience supporting pupils or children with SEN
  • The ability to offer 1:1 support/ personal care and/ or Manual Handling
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Proactive and passionate personality
  • Available 3-5 days per week from 9:15am to 4:15pm
  • BSL would be beneficial but not essential
  • An interest in Media / Art / Music / Cooking would be beneficial but is not necessary
  • Ideally you will already have a Child and Adult Workforce DBS on the online update service (or if not you are happy to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
