Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support Assistant – Primary School, Bolton

About the Role
We are working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Bolton that is looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEN Support Assistant to join their team. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils across Key Stage 2, working both one-on-one and in small groups to help meet a range of special educational needs.

If you are passionate about inclusive education and have the drive to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children with additional needs—including those with ASC and ADHD—this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

You will work closely with class teachers and the SENDCo to deliver personalised support programmes, assist in classroom management, and help create a nurturing, structured learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted support to pupils with special educational needs, promoting engagement and access to learning

  • Implement tailored strategies in line with individual support plans

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to monitor and assess pupil progress

  • Help foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment

  • Support general classroom duties as required

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Previous experience working with or supporting children with SEN

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • A calm, adaptable, and empathetic approach

  • Sound understanding of safeguarding procedures

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, SEN training)

  • Experience within a primary or specialist educational setting

  • Familiarity with specific SEN interventions and strategies

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
