A Church of England secondary school in Bath is looking for a Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a pupil who has learning difficulties and Global Developmental Delay. This is a full-time role to start as soon as possible.
What's the school like?
This smaller than average secondary school is located in the heart of historic Bath. It has a full intake of Year 7s but throughout the rest of the school it has smaller class size: roughly 15 to 20 pupils per class.
The school has a very close knit feel to it with staff of all levels getting really involved. I ave met many staff members from this school over the year and find them to be so welcoming.
There are however small pockets of disruptive behaviour, which left unchecked can cause disruption for other pupils so being confident with dealing with this kind of behaviour is a must.
What skills, training, experience and qualifications do I need?
Experience is probably the most important here but it doesn't have to be school experience or even working with children. Most importantly you must have SEN experience, ideally with learning difiiculties. This can be with adults or children, in or out of an education setting.
An understanding of safeguarding is essential but don't worry, if you don't have this, we will be able to offer training for you.
Your personality here is key! You must be patient, caring and above all committed. Inconsistency is the number one concern when it comes to 1:1 support. If you agree to the role you must be punctual, reliable and consistent.
But what's in it for me?
- Competitive pay from £54 to £65
- A fantastically rewarding role
- A tight knit community school with very supportive SLT
- A great way to begin a career in SEN and Education
- Central Bath and easy to get to via public transport
So if this floats your boat, please contact me as soon as possible to you can be shortlisted. I look forward to hearing from you.
