Job description

Specialist SEND Teacher – Nurture Unit (Withington)

Start Date: January | Contract: Supply (with potential for extension) | Duration: Until end of May

Are you an experienced SEND teacher passionate about making a difference for children with severe and complex needs? We’re looking for a dedicated professional to lead a small, supportive unit of 7 pupils (all under Year 3 age), assisted by 3 skilled Teaching Assistants.

About the Role

This is a rewarding opportunity to shape learning in a specialist setting. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the day-to-day running of the nurture unit
  • Designing and delivering tailored learning experiences for pupils with significant additional needs
  • Leading and guiding a team of committed TAs with confidence and positivity
  • Creating a safe, nurturing environment that promotes progress and wellbeing

What We’re Looking For

  • Hands-on SEND experience in a specialist setting (beyond short-term cover or emotional support)
  • Strong knowledge of strategies for younger children with severe and complex needs
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire staff effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills

Contract Details

  • Start: January
  • End: May (initial supply basis, with potential for longer-term booking)
  • Competitive daily rate

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
