SEN teacher, Southwark secondary special needs school

Teaching Personnel is currently working with an SEN school for secondary age students in the London Borough of Southwark. The school caters for students with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties, including moderate to severe autism. This school are looking to appoint a fully qualified teacher from September 2019. A successful candidate will be invited to stay for the academic year and potentially beyond.

  • £120 - £170 per day
  • This full time role is to teach a key stage 4 class
  • There are 7 students in the class and 4 teaching assistants
  • The students have a mixture of complex, severe learning difficulties, are mobile, communicate using PECs and are quite lively
  • The successful teacher would need to commit to planning, preparation and assessment for the class

The school is looking for someone with meaningful teaching experience, who can promote high standards of English, numeracy and ICT. Teachers who have come from a mainstream setting, but can demonstrate an enthusiasm for students with SEN and a willingness to work hard in a new environment are also welcome to apply.

The school has been graded as 'outstanding' by Ofsted in its last two assessments. The senior leadership team are extremely supportive, innovative and creative. You will find yourself working in a friendly and team-based environment. The school has a fantastic reputation in the local area, brilliant parental engagement, and often invites family and friends of the school in to see their shows, open days, sports days and fundraising fun days.

In order to work through Teaching Personnel, you will be required to have a DBS on the update service, or be willing to complete a new one as soon as possible.
