SEN Teacher – Secondary ALN Provision – Full-Time Role in Newport

Location: Newport, South Wales
Start Date: September 2025 
Daily Rate: £166.32 – £179.00 (determined by Teacher Payscale)
Sector: Secondary Education – ALN / SEN
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Job Type: Full-Time, Long-Term (with potential for permanent contract)

Teaching Personnel is partnering with a well-regarded secondary school in Newport to appoint a passionate and skilled SEN Teacher to join their Additional Learning Needs (ALN) department. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with pupils who have a range of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and moderate learning difficulties (MLD).

You’ll be part of a dedicated inclusion team, delivering personalised, engaging lessons that support every learner’s academic and emotional development.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with diverse learning needs.

  • Collaborate closely with ALN coordinators, teaching assistants, and external specialists.

  • Foster a calm, inclusive classroom environment where pupils feel supported and safe.

  • Track student progress and contribute to the development and review of EHCPs.

  • Use creative strategies to build confidence, independence, and social skills.


Requirements and Experience

  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – SEN specialism or secondary experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience working with students with ALN/SEN in a school setting.

  • Strong understanding of EHCPs and differentiated learning techniques.

  • Excellent communication, organisational and behaviour management skills.

  • Experience with SEMH, ASD or learning difficulties is desirable.


You’ll Need To Have:

  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).

  • EWC (Education Workforce Council) registration – support provided if required.

  • Two relevant references covering the past two years.
